Welcome to my webpage! I am a professor at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and I am also an aerospace engineer with a PhD in fluid dynamics. I am affiliated with the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) of my University.
Here you will find information about my research interests, ongoing projects, teaching activity, thesis proposals and consultancy opportunities offered to small companies and large industries.
My major is Computation Fluid Dynamics, frequently referred to via its acronym, CFD. Computational Fluid Dynamics allows to reproduce the behavior of fluids flowing around or inside solid bodies. It provides punctual information about the distribution of relevant variables, such as velocity, pressure, temperature, and calculates forces and moments acting on bodies that are immersed in a fluid flow. It can be used to understand the behavior of fluid flows and to design optimal configurations for devices whose performances are based on fluid dynamics. Applications are naturally found in aerospace and naval engineering and include various industrial processes also. In general, whenever a fluid is flowing, or a body is moving in a fluid, CFD can be used as an analysis and a design tool. It’s a multidisciplinary science, as it can include different types of interactions within a fluid or between fluids and other media or force fields, such as, for example, the mutual effect of electromagnetic fields and plasmas, or fluid/structure interactions, or chemical reactions in reacting gas mixtures.
