From the Preface

This book is a revised and expanded version of the material that the first author presented in a mini-course given at IMPA, about the same topics, on the occasion of the 30° Colóquio Brasileiro de Matemática (July 2015), and is largely based on the collaboration with the second author and Inna Scherbak. It aims at introducing and advertising the notion of Hasse-Schmidt Derivation on a Grassmann Algebra, which we propose as a natural language to put many ostensibly unrelated subjects into a unified framework.

The Lecture Notes of the mini-course I gave at IMPA, during the 25° Colóquio Brasileiro de Matemática. It concerns the formulation of classical Schubert Calculus in terms of Hasse-Schmidt Derivations on an exterior algebra.
