Palestra:
Wronskians,
Universal ODE and
Schubert Calculus
Abstract
"The talk aims to revisit
some known mathematical
notions using Wronskian
determinants(of a linear
system on a compact Riemann
Surface or of a basis of
solutions of a linear ODE
with constant coefficients)
as a pair of colored
glasses. From Schubert
Calculus for Grassmannian
varieties to Universal
Linear ODE with constant
coefficients up to the
so called Boson-Fermion
correspondence as it arises
in the representation theory
of
infinite dimensional Lie
algebras.
Using
these particular spectacles,
one may realize that the
correspondence by Bose and
Fermi is nothing else than
the Jacobi-Trudy formula for
generalized
Wronskians (Wronski-Schubert
calculus) associated to a
fundamental system of
solution to a linear ODE of
infinite order.
Based on
a joint work with Inna
Scherbak (Tel Aviv
University)."
