The Department of Computer and Control Engineering ( DAUIN ) pursues research and teaching activities focusing on the three main scientific topics: Automation, Computer Engineering and Operation Research.
The research at DAUIN has a very concrete impact on both social and industrial systems both at the regional, national and international level, as evidenced by the large number of research projects founded by leading public and private companies.
DAUIN includes more than 60 lecturers and researchers, more than 100 PhD students and research collaborators,
and 20 people in the technical and administrative staff .

In 2009 DAUIN income reached 4M€, almost entirely (91%) used to support research activities, while the remaining part is dedicated to management (7%) and teaching (2%) expenses.
The main source of incomes for research is represented by external organizations (companies, private organizations, etc.) (41%).
The second largest fraction of incomes comes from European Union and Italian Research and University Council (36%).
A very small fraction of the research activities is supported by Politecnico (9%).
The remaining part of the research is supported by public organizations (14%).

12 laboratories are allocated for doctorate students and research external collaborators.
